Prestige Collectibles is the worlds leading buyer and seller of vintage Japanese baseball cards and memorabilia. The company was founded in 1988 by Gary Engel, with the primary focus at that time being high grade American baseball cards. However, in 1994, Mr. Engel decided to change the companys focus, and Prestige Collectibles became the first company in the U.S. to deal exclusively in Japanese sports memorabilia on a full time basis. Since 1993, Prestige Collectibles has published Japanese Baseball Card Checklist & Price Guide, now in its 6th edition (2005). Mr. Engel is also the co-author of the critically acclaimed book, Sayonara Home Run; The Art of the Japanese Baseball Card. In August 2006, Prestige Collectibles, LLC was established. The company is currently owned and operated by Robert Klevens of Lauderhill, FL. Mr. Klevens has been involved with Japanese baseball cards since 1988. He spent six years living in Japan while running Tokyos largest card shop, The Ball Park.
