We started Viper Bats because we love baseball. I have been around the game for many years as a coach and umpire. I never really was a good player but I loved to be involved with the game. My son Chris had been a top player in every league he has played in since he was six. In the last two years he started swinging wood bats and playing in wood bat leagues. Our first wood bats were bought at the local sporting goods store. The quality of these bats were poor. Next we found good bats from Tom Cat Bats. These were high quality maple bats and lasted the whole season. In 2003 we found Split Rock Bats and Kevin Kuklis. Split Rock had been making bats for over five years, selling to the pros as well as retail customers. Kevin Kuklis is a professional player, 6 5 and a right handed pitcher that throws in the low 90s. In 2003 Kevin had his best year and was invited to winter ball. This is where we came in. Kevin found that his pro career required a lot of travel and he was unable to devote the time required to make quality bats. Kevin began closing up shop and putting the equipment in storage, and then thats when we decided to buy Split Rock Bats. Kevin assisted in setting up our new manufactuering facility and spent a week teaching our staff the tricks of the trade. This enabled us to match the quality and craftsmanship that Split Rock Bats had been known for. With the combined knowledge of Kevin, and the feel of a real hitter in my son Chris, we are now manufacturing custom quality wood bats. Every bat gets the feel and swing test by Chris, our quality control expert, so you will be ensured the highest quality bat every time.
