What started as a couple pieces of hardwood glued, shaped and varnished into a single handsome longboard, has developed into a craze to produce the highest quality classic styled longboards. Based in the shadows of the Wasatch Mountain range in Utah, Epic Longboards has developed and continues to create a custom longboard that is not factory produced, but rather, hand crafted by skilled woodworkers; woodworkers that skate! Our longboards are longer than most and we think length makes all the difference. We’ve designed and developed a variety of shapes and sizes in our quest for classic functionality and in doing so have learned by trial and error what works well and what generates pure stoke. The boards you see here on this website are the fruits of our labors. They generate pure stoke whether you’re shooting a hill, carving a turn, or just cruising. We’re proud of our craftsmanship and our designs and know that all your expectations will be exceeded with an Epic Longboard. To understand the beginnings of Epic Longboards you must trace the roots of the brothers and founders of the company, Jared and Mike Patching. Born and raised in Santa Cruz California surrounded by the surf and skateboarding sub-culture, surfing and skateboarding were just part of everyday life. Jared moved on to live on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii for 5 years. A few years latter they both found themselves living in Utah, miles away from the ocean. Surrounded with a playground of snow in the winter and long winding mountain roads in the summer, the transition to snowboarding hard all winter and longboarding miles of twisting mountain roads all summer came easy. Living close together they found each other talking about all of the amazing Epic days of riding. Which brings us to the formation of Epic Longboards. We had a desire to get away for riding many of the cookie cut out type boards that cover the market today. So we decided to build quality, handcrafted laminated-hardwood longboards that would last a lifetime. Along the way we tried lots of shaped and sizes and different wood combinations.
