D & P stands for the first names of the companys 2 owners, David and Paul. David Van Der Walt was educated at Diocesan College (Bishops) in Cape Town. He has played representative cricket in Boland, Western Province and Gauteng, as well as playing cricket in England. David worked for Hunts County Bats in England in 1994 where he learnt the art of bat making, added to this, several years at LF Palmer in Johannesburg and Varsity Sports in Cape Town making him vastly experienced and knowledgeable. Paul Borst has a BSc(Hons) in Sport (Science and Administration) from Nottingham, England and played county cricket at schoolboy and youth level before coming to South Africa. He has been involved in the cricket industry in South Africa since 1997. He has recently visited India to study various companies associated with cricket and can boast a good understanding of the cricket industry both in South Africa and overseas. Batmans Cricket Services has grown rapidly since its inception in 1999 and the signs are good for a bright future. Both David and Paul put their current success down to a hands on approach where the focus is on customer satisfaction. Word of mouth has been the companys main marketing tool and now with 6 top provincial cricketers using D&P they hope to attract a country wide following. The companys focus is exclusively on cricket equipment, thus ensuring that all its products are up to date and that they can offer the relevant levels of advice to ensure customer satisfaction. With the cricket manufacturing factory situated in Ottery, Cape Town, they are one of only a handful of companies that manufacture cricket bats in South Africa and can offer the expertise and understanding of what actually goes into making a good cricket bat. With this level of expertise it is not unusual to find one of the Proteas or international cricketers visiting Batman Cricket Services.
