Originally established in 1974, Figure 8 Boutique Limited was created by Mrs. Madeleine Simard, an entrepreneurial woman who started in a simple way by selling skates in her home basement. Shortly after starting the business, assessing the reaction of her customers and wanting to meet local by-law restrictions, Mrs. Simard moved her growing business to a commercial site. Bank loan in hand she pressed forward to create Ottawas first store dedicated to servicing the figure skating needs.
